Cocktail author: Alec Bales.

What caught my eye about this cocktail, or should I say ear, was description of the drink by its creator, characterizing it as something between Daiquiri and Negroni. That certainly piqued my interest and I had to give this cocktail a try.

Base of the cocktail is aged rhum agricole, which serves as a nod to daiquiri side of the inspiration, but at the same time mixes things a bit with those subtly sweet, grassy almost umami like notes.

Lime juice brings fresh, long lasting, tart kick, wakening up the drink and taming the boldness of the base spirit. Cane syrup, delicately introduces molasses notes to the drink, while at the same time restoring the balance, to a slightly unusual daiquiri. Campari is where things take a fun and bitter-sweet turn. Those orange notes of Campari start to get stronger and stronger towards the end with the last sip really invoking memories of a Negroni. This cocktail takes you on a memorable journey from the Caribbean all the way to the Northern Italy.

More Supreme is a fun cocktail to try. I really like how this drink manages to walk the tight rope between, light tropical daiquiri and sophisticated deep amaro based cocktail. It might not be for everyone, but it should surely put a smile on a face of any cocktail nerd.
