Cocktail author: Traditional Mexican cocktail (author unknown).

Cantarito is one of quintessential Mexican cocktails, full of flavour and traditions. Probably the most noticeable tradition is a unique clay cups used to serve the drink. Unfortunately, getting the hold of them is quite difficult where I live, so I was forced to improvise and serve it in a Collins glass, and while it lacked some authenticity the result was still a delightful and tasty cocktail.

Cantarito loans the tasty combination of tequila and grapefruit soda, supported by the lime juice from Paloma and further builds on by incorporating fresh grapefruit and orange juices. This addition increases the taste complexity and expands the gamma of citrus notes. A pinch of salt and chili lime seasoning on the rim, helps to boost the flavours and enhances drinking experience. As for the tequila, I love the deeper oaky notes of reposado in this cocktail instead of blanco, pairing so well with the multiple citrus notes.

All in all, if you like Palomas, then Cantarito would be a natural next choice.
