Cobra Clutch is cocktail taking tequila into a tropical, tiki like direction. A real crowd pleaser with enough complexity for seasoned cocktail lovers, yet light enough and tasty to drink for the first time novices.
Base of the cocktail in a tiki like tradition is split, just this time, between blanco tequila and mezcal. Tequila brings vegetal, grassy notes supported by the smoky complexity of mezcal. Sweetness is provided by the molasses rich demerara syrup and a fruity pineapple juice. Cocktail is then balanced by the tart lime juice taming the sweetness, but without overpowering other flavours and pairing incredibly well with the base spirits. Absinthe rinse works as a gentle aniseed spice lingering in the background imparting touch of additional complexity.
All in all, Cobra Clutch is a fantastic drink covering all the bases, full of flavour, but not too strong, not too sweet and not too tart. Great for summer cocktail parties, or simply to relax with after a hard day.
