Cocktail author: Not sure, but I got this particular recipe from A Few Cocktails.
This cocktail was one of those pleasantly surprising discoveries that appears every now and again. The star of this cocktail is, of course, mango. It is not the most common tiki ingredient, but after trying this drink, I can only ask one question: Why?
Base of the cocktail can either be lightly aged rum or coconut rum. I highly recommend trying coconut rum, because of how it plays around with the sweet and fruity notes of mango. This entire cocktail is built around how these two flavours interact and reinforce each other at every step, forming a formidable tropical duo. A touch of lime juice and simple syrup helps to balance out the cocktail while at the same time letting the flavours pop just a little bit more. Aromatic dimension is added by a couple of dashes of Angostura bitters and its tropical spices along with a sprig of fresh mint.
Altogether these ingredients form a fruity tiki cocktail, that is bursting with tropical spirit. Overall taste profile might be on the sweet side, but when served over crushed ice it totally works. Delightful and indulgent with every sip.
