End of the fall is the perfect time of the year for stronger, heavier, higher ABV cocktails. Rusty Nail falls exactly into this category. It was an incredibly popular cocktail back in the 1960s and 1970s when it simply ruled the bars. However, lately it has fallen out of fashion, yet it still retained all the amazing qualities that made it popular back in the day. So, if you are a seasoned scotch lover, this is a must try for you.

Rusty Nail is a pretty straight forward cocktail, it cannot be easier than blending just two ingredients: scotch and Drambuie. Scotch brings burned oak and subtle fruity vanilla notes. It pairs well with scotch-based liqueur and its gentle cinnamon, caramel, anise tones. Herbaceous quality of the liqueur adds a lot of complexity and honey sweetness to the mix taming the wild scotch.

All in all, Rusty Nail is a surprising cocktail. It is simple, complex and delicious, which is a tall order keeping in mind that it only consists of two ingredients. A perfect drink to relax with after a long day of work.
