Cocktail author: Sam Ross.

Lately the weather has been textbook autumn – grey and dark all day long. So, I was craving for something summery, even if it was only temporary and Sunflower was the perfect cocktail to revive the spirit of warm summer sunshine, at least for a moment.
Cocktail has a delicate and light profile, managing to capture summer evening in a glass. Recipe is relatively easy - all equal parts, meaning no one ingredient takes centre stage.  Although, I would argue, that subtle floral notes of elderflower liqueur are the most important ones, making this cocktail into what it is. London dry gin, is surprisingly much less prominent, playing nice with the elderflower and supplementing it with taste of juniper. Triple sec brings sweet notes of orange, balanced by the bright tartness of lemon. Finally, absinthe rinse adds a layer of complexity with gentle hit on anise.

All in all, Sunflower is a simple cocktail, but do not let that fool you, it is ready to surprise you.
