Cocktail recipe by Laura Maddox.

It has been a little while since I have tried a new tequila cocktail. Luckily, I came across this recipe for Tequila Daisy by Laura Maddox. It seemed to be an intriguing and unusual alternative to many lime-based Margarita variations.

Cocktail is based on the classic blend of Blanco Tequila with its familiar vegetable, agave notes and sweet orange of triple sec. Original recipe simply calls for orange liqueur, potentially opening the doors for experimenting with various other orange liqueurs for subtle changes and riffs. (I was a bit curious of how this recipe holds up to the famous Margarita, so I have stuck with triple sec for more accurate comparison.) Tartness comes from an addition of lemon juice, which brings a fragrant almost floral quality to the cocktail, making it somewhat lighter than the lime forward Margarita. The final addition of simple syrup, takes the cocktail in a sweeter direction, than many other tequila cocktails, especially when combined with the sugary rim.

Tequila Daisy is a tasty easy to make cocktail. Interesting, sweeter and more floral alternative to the Margarita. So give it a try, if you are looking for something new.
