Basil & Reposado

COCKTAIL INGREDIENTS:
- 3 Large Basil Leaves
- 60 ml Reposado Tequila
- 22,5 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
- 15 ml Agave Syrup
- 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters

FLOAT:
- 7,5 ml Yellow Chartreuse
- 5 dashes of Angostura Bitters

GARNISH:
- Basil
- Lemon Slice

INSTRUCTIONS:
• Gently muddle basil leaves in a cocktail shaker. Don’t over do it. Just press it a few times to release the aroma.
• Add the remaining ingredients except the ones set aside for the top float.
• Shake with ice until chilled.
• Double strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass.
• Float yellow Chartreuse and Angostura Bitters on top.
• Garnish with a leaf of basil and a lemon slice.

Great paring of agave vegetable notes from reposado tequila with the fragrance of basil. Throw in some herbal aromatics of yellow Chartreuse and Angostura bitters and you have yourself a killer cocktail. Every ingredient in this cocktail has a part to play in order to bring you an enjoyable experience. Although, I think that 5 dashes of Angostura Bitters to top it off, might be a bit too much. When I’m making this cocktail again, I will tone it down to 3 dashes, so that other ingredients get an easier way to shine through.
