With the hot summer weather hitting hard, it is a about time to turn to some refreshing cocktails. When one is thinking about summer drinks, often an encounter with a “certain” type of spritz is unavoidable. Thus, I decided to mix things up a bit and try and make my own spritz, following the traditional ratios. For this I turned to my home-made bergamot liqueur, that packs a lot of flavour.

As a starting point, I wanted to make things as simple as possible, so the goal was to make the traditional ratio of the spritz 2:3:1 work. Luckily my home-made liqueur was up to the task, with it’s bold, fruity, bitter-sweet bergamot notes shining through. At the same time, it paired seamlessly with the acidic and fruity prosecco. A dash of soda water helps to lengthen the cocktail while the finishing touches of dehydrated bergamot and a sprig of mint add the further aromatic element to the cocktail.

In the end, the result was a remarkably refreshing cocktail, with a slight twist. A type of spritz that will make a comeback in my household during the summer.
