Café con Leche

COCKTAIL INGREDIENTS:
- 30 ml Black Rum
(Preferably Gosling’s Black Seal)
- 22,5 ml Coffee Liqueur
(Preferably Mr. Black)
- 22,5 ml Simple Syrup
- 15 ml Heavy Cream
- 1 Egg Yolk

GARNISH:
- Grated Nutmeg

INSTRUCTIONS:
• Combine all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
• Add ice and shake until chilled.
• Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
• Garnish with some freshly grated nutmeg.

Café con Leche is another tasty cocktail created by Sam Ross. Inspired by a coffee drink popular in Spain and Latin America.

At first glance this drink looks like a simple flip style cocktail, yet the taste of it is anything but simple. Rich decadent texture and balanced flavour turns this simple cocktail into a fantastic, refreshing drink. Sweet fruit and molasses notes of black rum, fuses with deep coffee and chocolate notes of Mr. Black forming the flavour base of the cocktail. Cream and egg yolk combine to give rich, smooth and decadent texture with a touch of fragrant nutmeg on top. Simple syrup balances the cocktail and helps flavours pop a little bit more. Tasty cocktail in every sense of the word.

I love this type of cocktails, where every single ingredient has a function and is strongly present. Café con Leche is a great example of how to create cocktails. Sometimes to achieve a complex flavour you do not need many rare ingredients, but just a few right flavours in correct quantities will do the trick.
