Recipe author: Original Whisky Smash dates back to late 19th century. In the 80s and 90s Dale DeGroff brought it back and help popularize it, so it is difficult to state the author’s name with any certainty. This is my simple riff on this classic cocktail.

This cocktail riff was an accidental discovery. I was making a refreshing Whiskey Smash one day, and had a bottle of St. Germain just sitting on the table from the previous cocktail I made. I decided why not to reduce the amount of simple syrup in the cocktail and replace it with some elderflower liqueur, just to see what influence could that have. A result was a very delicious, summery drink. Elderflower provides this fragrant herbal sweetness to cocktail, balanced by the lemon, pairing well with mint and sweeter notes of bourbon. Cocktail was a true delight that I invite you to try.
