First Post is a remarkable, refreshing cocktail for all tall drink lovers. It balances the line between strong, weak, sour, bitter and sweet unbelievably well.

London Dry Gin takes place of a base spirit, with it’s well-known and familiar juniper notes. Bitter component is provided by Suze, a bitter gentian root liqueur with floral qualities. These two ingredients work wonders together, with a couple of dashes of absinthe adding a little bit more complexity to the mix. At the same time freshly squeezed lime juice and simple syrup, brings some freshness and balances the cocktail. Finally, icy soda water lengthens the cocktail and adds a touch of effervescence. I finished the cocktail by expressing lime peel oil over the top and garnishing with a lime wheel.

To me First Post is undoubtedly a summer cocktail, but it’s lightness, freshness and balance makes it enjoyable all year round, especially if you feel craving for a less booze forward cocktail.
