Cocktail author: it seems that the cocktail comes from New England area of U.S. Some of the earliest mentions go back to the beginning of the XIX century. However, the true inventor of the cocktail remains unknown.
Tom and Jerry is a cocktail that immediately conjures images of well-known cartoon characters. Yet drink’s origins and history seem to be preceding the creation of the animated series.
I have long looked with suspicion to warm batter-based cocktails, but eventually curiousness got the better of me and I’m happy it did. This cocktail did not disappoint.
Tom and Jerry is a lovely, rich and decadent cocktail, probably best suited for the Christmas period. First of all, you are greeted by the scent of various holiday style spices. Then a combination of dark rum and cognac provides a satisfying kick by mixing oak notes of the cognac and sweet molasses of the rum together. Finally, creamy, airy, light texture of the batter adds slightly decadent touch with warm milk diluting the cocktail and forming creamy texture by combining itself with the batter.
If you ever feel in need of warm boozy comfort, then look no further and make yourself a glass of Tom and Jerry.
