Cocktail author: Recipe adapted by Death & Co and featured in their book on Modern Classic Cocktails. Original recipe dates back to unknown bartender in 1970s.

La Rosita is a booze filled take on the classic negroni with a Mexican twist. Origins of the cocktail traces back to “The Rosita” cocktail created by an unknown bartender in the 1970s. It stayed there in the relative obscurity before being rediscovered in the 2000’s and eventually adapted by Death & Co with their own very special touch.

Right from the get go recipe starts differing from its inspiration by swapping base spirit for Reposado Tequila with those mellow agave notes. Bitter-sweet Campari has been cut down to 15 ml. Addition of vermouth has been expanded to combination of both sweet and dry vermouth increasing the complexity and depth of the cocktail by utilizing various botanical notes. Cocktail is finished off by a dash of Angostura bitters and an orange twist building an extra layer of aromatics on top of already impressive list of ingredients.

All in all, La Rosita is a delicious cocktail which is not surprising, keeping in mind that it comes from Death & Co. It is sure to please most negroni lovers looking to expand their horizons.
