Sometimes there is nothing better to lift your spirits like a delicious tiki cocktail, that instantly transports you to a tropical destination leaving your troubles behind, even if for a half an hour. Tradewinds is a cocktail that suits this description to a T.

Cocktail starts with a split base between lightly aged blended rum and black blended rum introducing a rich rum palette of floral, honey, vanilla and molasses notes to the cocktail. Paired with fruity apricot liqueur it is a killer combination. Further cream of coconut addition, brings a rich viscous texture enhancing the drinking experience as well as extra tropical twist. Last but not least, fresh lemon juice, helps to balance, the otherwise rather sweet, cocktail with its aromatics pairing very well with the apricot notes.

All in all, Tradewinds is a rather simple tiki cocktail to make with unbelievable results. I must admit, it has become one of my favorite tikis ever. Give it a try if you have a chance.
