Cocktail author: Cocktail origins date back to the early 20th century. Best known version has been published in “Savoy Cocktail Book” by Harry Craddock.

Pegu Club is a delicious classic with a long, rich history dating back to the early 20th century and later popularized by Harry Craddock and his „Savoy Cocktail Book“.

In essence, Pegu Club is a gin sour, with a couple of twists and turns, such as absence of egg whites or simple syrup. Cocktail build is rather simple and straight forward. Gin base, is strongly present with its botanical and juniper notes. Orange curacao brings sweet notes of orange with slight wood and bitter orange peel tones, supplementing the botanicals of the base spirit. Lime juice adds the refreshing citrus tartness, and a couple of dashes of bitters increases the complexity of the taste profile by introducing additional bitterness and spice notes.

Altogether Pegu Club is an outstanding well-balanced classic cocktail, that is often unfairly forgotten next to other well-known prohibition era cocktails.
