Cocktail author: recipe from book by Toni Tipton-Martin. Cocktail itself has been on the books in various forms and recipes for almost a hundred years.

Right from the get go, I can tell that, when I first encountered name Clover Leaf in cocktails, I was not expecting the recipe that followed (but not in the bad way, so don’t be scared). Not sure why, perhaps I was expecting something with whiskey or even absinthe, nonetheless flavour of the cocktail did not disappoint. In essence Clover Leaf is a gin sour with a gentle black-raspberry twist, simple yet delicious combination.

Base of the cocktail is London dry gin with those ever present and pronounced juniper notes laying a solid foundation. It is then paired with some fresh and fragrant lemon juice which in turn is balanced by the Chambord. The black-raspberry liqueur brings sweetness and adds a distinctively fruity dimension. Egg white foam provides that indulgent velvety texture with a delicate hint of mint from the single leaf placed on top.

All in all, Clover Leaf is a relatively simple yet effective twist on the gin sour resulting in a very tasty drink.
