The Mean Fiddler is a tasty and boozy creation straight from the Dead Rabbit cocktail bar in New York.
It starts with a rather long list of ingredients, not a very common situation with stir down cocktails. Cocktail uses a split base of Irish and Islay whiskies. Triple distilled Irish whiskey helps to tame the strong peated taste of Islay whisky, enough for it not to overtake other ingredients. Combination of green chartreuse and sweet vermouth brings a load of complex sweet botanical tones to the cocktail with a splash of Campari adding those familiar notes of bitter-sweet orange. Touch of cinnamon syrup together with the bitters expands the aromatic dimension with tropical spices, helping to bind everything together. At this point all that is missing is a little bit of garnish and you have a delicious boozy cocktail at your service.
The Mean Fiddler is a perfect choice for spirit forward cocktail enthusiasts. Especially with the cold wind blasting outside of your window, this cocktail with surely keep you warm.
