Cocktail author: I have decided to test this recipe on my own, but I’m sure somebody already had this idea way before me.

One more summer spritz recipe – Ramazzotti Spritz. This time the recipe brings it back to the basics of combining Italian amaro, prosecco and soda water into a deliciously refreshing drink at a ratio of 2-3-1.

For this particular riff I wanted to test amaro ramazotti and how its notes of dark chocolate, liquorice and subtle berries work in a template of a spritz. Overall taste profile of the amaro is quite dark and heavy which is why light and fruity notes of prosecco are so important to balance out the cocktail. Addition of soda water also helps to tame the boldness of the amaro and lengthens the cocktail at the same time. Lemon twist and mint garnish brings further complex aromatic dimension for the full pleasurable drinking experience emphasizing the aspect of lightness in otherwise quite heavy form of spritz.

In the end, amaro Ramazzotti works quite well in a template of a spritz and, surprisingly, when combined with effervescence of prosecco and soda water it brings almost cola like quality to the cocktail, which I did not expect. However, if you are not particularly fond of properly bitter drinks, I would recommend to perhaps reduce the amount of amaro to 45 ml to ease you into this specific version for a spritz since it can be overwhelming if you are used to traditional Aperol take on this cocktail.
