Cocktail author: Steven Roennfeldt aka. Steve The Bartender.

Sidecar is probably one of the most well-known classic cognac cocktails out there. This variation created by Steve the Bartender, gives it a fruity twist, while honoring its French roots.

Base spirit of the riff remains to be cognac. Distinctly present through aged oak and dark chocolate notes. Brandy / Cognac base of orange curacao enables it to complement the base spirit and introduce hits of orange to the mix. Kept to a modest dose of 7,5 ml, orange liqueur leaves enough room for the main star of the cocktail – Chambord. Blackraspberry liqueur takes the cocktail in a recognizable fruity direction, by introducing sweet raspberry and blackberry notes, at the same time increasing the complexity of the overall taste. Last addition of the lemon juice, balances out the cocktail with some fresh tartness, finishing this tasty cocktail.

Overall, Chanbord Sidecar is an excellent example of how to riff off and create new cocktails. Simply exchange some ingredients, rebalance the cocktail and you are left with a delicious drink.
