Debbie Don‘t is a cocktail with a fantastic backstory, almost as good as the cocktail itself.

Debbie Don’t was created by Zachary Gelnaw-Rubin while bartending at Dutch Kills in New York. Debbie is supposed to be the ghost that is haunting the bathrooms at Dutch Kills and so the cocktail has been named after it. That sure sounds exciting.

Cocktail itself is a well-balanced creation full of incredible taste. Aged oak and vanilla notes of reposado combining with the bitter sweet caramel and licorice of the Averna forms a rich tasting base for the cocktail. These deep notes are further reinforced by the sweetness of maple syrup, which in turn is balanced by the lemon juice. I added a small lemon twist bringing some fragrance to the cocktail for that additional lightness.

Debbie Don’t is a great tasting cocktail from simple ingredients. It should absolutely be a must taste for cocktail aficionados.
