Cocktail author: this cocktail recipe comes from an article by Carey Jones and John D. McCarthy.

Recently I was on the look for more Midori cocktails, since I still had a bottle of it sitting in the cupboard. Eventually I came across a recipe for Honeydew Collins. A fun and lively cocktail in both taste and looks.

White rum and its sugar, honey and vanilla notes go fantastically well with fragrant and sweet taste of fresh honeydew melon juice. Addition of Japanese melon liqueur reinforces this taste turning it into a primary flavor of the cocktail. I slightly increased the amount of lime juice to 15 ml since Midori and melon juice are both quite sweet and the cocktail could really use a little bit of extra balance, but if your taste is sweeter than mine, then be my guest and stick to the original recipe. Lengthen the cocktail with a bit of effervescence of soda water and enjoy.

I wanted to do something fun with the garnish that would go along with the signature green color of the Midori and the result was a green “python” carved out of a long twist of lime. It is not the kind of garnish I would use on a classic cocktail, but here it seemed appropriate and it gave this cocktail an extra playful twist.
