This was a really interesting cocktail to try. First of all, just a combination of rye whisky and mezcal sounds like it could be a killer combination. Top that with a few liqueurs, an amaro and you end up with a drink consisting of rather strong flavors, that work surprisingly well.

Devil’s Soul was a cocktail I had to make, cause at first glance it seemed that it should not work and yet it does. Caramel and oak notes of rye whisky are the most prominent flavors here, supported by the smokiness of mezcal and forming a strong base for the cocktail. Combination of bittersweet orange and licorice notes of Averna, strengthened by the addition of somewhat sweeter Aperol, rounds out that harshness of the main spirits. While a touch of elderflower liqueur brings some herbal fragrance to the mix. Finally, flamed orange zest, brings another level of caramelized orange note, which are the first ones to greet you on the tip of your nose, when you pick up this cocktail. This is cocktail is more than ready to give a pleasurable experience.
