Brandy Crusta is a classic cocktail with a long history going back all the way to New Orleans in the 1850s. It might not be as well-known as Sazerac or Ramos Gin Fizz, the drinks most often associated with New Orleans cocktail culture, but in recent years it started to get back its popularity.
As the name implies base of the cocktail is cognac or brandy with its notes of oaky chocolate, toffee and tobacco. Orange curaçao brings notes of sweet candied orange with subtle bitterness of the peel. Maraschino liqueur adds additional sweetness with delicate nuttiness pairing well with the base spirit. Fresh lemon juice helps to balance out the cocktail while providing some refreshing tartness. Angostura bitters and lemon peel oils expands the aromatic dimension of the cocktail by introducing a bit of spice to the mix. Sugary rim helps to emphasize the individual notes and it is a must for this cocktail.

Brandy Crusta is a delicious cocktail and when combined with the sugary rim it certainly provides enjoyable and ever evolving drinking experience.
