Brandy Daisy

COCKTAIL INGREDIENTS:
- 45 ml Brandy or Cognac
- 22,5 ml Yellow Chartreuse
- 22,5 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
- Approx. 15 ml Soda Water (chilled)

GARNISH:
- Lemon Twist

INSTRUCTIONS:
• Combine all of the ingredients except soda water in a mixing glass.
• Add ice and stir for 30-45 sec. or approx. 60 revolutions.
• Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
• Top with chilled soda water.
• Garnish with a lemon twist.

Daisy cocktail template was a go-to recipe back in the XIX century. However, nowadays it has retreated into the shadows, making only a rare appearance (if you do not count Margarita as a daisy riff of course).

This Brandy Daisy recipe is a lovely take on the classic template. Base spirit of cognac is laying a sophisticated foundation with notes of aged oak, dried fruit and chocolate. Yellow Chartreuse brings sweetness and numerous floral and herbal tones to the mix, quickly increasing the overall taste complexity. Addition of lemon juice brings that all important refreshing tartness and brightness helping to balance out the sweet liqueur. A splash of soda water and its effervescence adds an extra dimension while at the same time further lengthening and taming the cocktail.

All in all, Brandy Daisy is a rather simple and elegant cocktail with delicious and bright flavour profile. Perfect for someone looking to get into stirred drinks, but not yet ready for a full-on boozy stir-down like Manhattan or Boulevardier.
