Cocktail author: recipe by Martin Cate of Smuggler's Cove.

What better way to see the summer off than a delicious tropical tiki cocktail? Golden Gun by the Smuggler's Cove is the perfect rum filled libation to satisfy this craving.

Base of the cocktail, as it often is with tiki drinks, is split - between lightly aged and aged rums, bringing the best of both. Honey, vanilla and subtle tropical spices of lightly aged rum combined with gentle molasses and spice of the aged rum. Apricot liqueur adds tasty fruitiness to the mix, a staple of tropical drinks, clearly present and shining through as one of the main flavours. Traditional tiki choice of lime juice provides that refreshing tartness paired with complex tart bitterness of grapefruit. Cocktail is then balanced by an addition of demerara syrup that emphasizes molasses and burnt caramel notes also present in the aged rum. A couple of dashes of Angostura seasons the cocktail with aromatics of tropical spice nicely finishing the cocktail.

The Golden Gun is a perfect tiki cocktail for the late summer, full of rum and tropical spice. It will instantly transport you back to your favourite holiday destination.
